Why the conversation has changed

An owner hearing about AI search may wonder whether their website is about to become invisible. My advice is to translate that concern into a practical question: can someone, or a system helping them, understand what your business does and find a trustworthy answer on your pages? The opportunity is to explain your expertise clearly. The urgency should not be used to sell certainty that nobody can provide.

AEO and SEO are connected

For Google’s AI Overviews and AI Mode, Google says existing SEO best practices remain relevant and no special additional optimization is required. That guidance applies to Google’s features, not a universal specification for every AI service. I use AEO as a useful way to discuss answer quality and discovery, while keeping the underlying site accessible and coherent. Google Search Central: AI features and your website

INTERACTIVE / DISCOVERY EXPLORERILLUSTRATIVE MODEL

One business. Three ways to be understood.

Choose a discovery experience to see what information the visitor needs. These modes coexist; this is not a prediction of rankings or a simulation of any provider’s algorithm.

“AI implementation for my business”

A page that explains the service.

The visitor needs to see what implementation includes, who it helps and how to explore the next step.

Specific titleReadable service pageUseful navigation

The job: help someone find and understand the relevant page. Clear information supports the decision; visibility is not guaranteed.

What a useful answer looks like

A useful answer states its scope. For example, a page about implementing AI in a business can define implementation, show one workflow and explain where human review belongs. It should distinguish a proposed scenario from a completed result. A reader should know who is speaking, what the explanation is based on and what remains uncertain. Those choices make the information more useful even when no AI service cites it.

Ask better questions before buying an AEO service

Ask what will actually be changed, what evidence supports the change and how success will be assessed. Ask whether content will remain accurate and visible to visitors. Be cautious about guaranteed citations, guaranteed placement or claims that a single hidden file unlocks AI visibility. Request a clear scope and reporting method. A vendor should be able to explain the business-facing work without pretending to control another company’s search system.

What I would prioritize

I would begin with accurate service information, direct answers to genuine questions, clear authorship and a technically accessible website. Then I would review what visitors still need and how discovery changes over time. Aethra brings ongoing keyword and AI search monitoring together with proposed changes and owner approval. Owners review insights, approve changes or request their own through a dedicated dashboard. The public demonstration uses sample data and is not evidence of search uplift.

Common questions

Does AEO guarantee ChatGPT will mention my business?

No. Making public information accessible and useful does not control whether an AI service selects, cites or summarizes it.

Should I publish hundreds of AI-written pages?

Only publish pages with a distinct purpose and useful, checked information. Quantity alone is not a content strategy.
